Social Media Influencer Pamela Mtanga has been carving out her own spot in the influencer marketing community since her breakthrough as ‘Mrs Buns’, a stint with another mega-influencer Maps Maponyane which took social media by storm in late 2019. It’s not hard to see why – a quick glance through Pamela Mtanga’s Instagram page boasting over 90K followers, one can feel the great sense of exuberance, impeccable style and a captivating aura. It’s perhaps her huge smile, the pop of colour on her feed, her bubbly personality or just her admirable determination to grow as a content creator, broadcaster and MC.
As more South African firms across various industries recognise the significance and benefits of using influencer marketing as a communication channel, the space for new and niche creators continues to expand. Mtanga is one noteworthy fresh face that has been able to expand her brand and diversify her talents through authentically connecting with her community on social media. That authentic connection with her engaged audience is what drew Adidas South Africa to her brand, challenging Pamela to create content pieces in celebration of Beyoncé’s Icy Park release earlier this year. This was probably my introduction to this rising star’s creative potential, whose content went on to reach almost 1 million users during the campaign period.
That was not the last time this firecracker would break the internet with her compelling content. It wasn’t long before the likes of Samsung took notice and began knocking at her door for collaborations. The 25 year old has gone on to work with the likes of Nivea, Zando, Inecto SA, Labello, Easy Waves and Phillips. Alongside growing her portfolio and credentials as a creator, she is also building a stellar MC’ing career, having hosted over 20 industry events already.
In the past two years alone, Mtanga has hosted Nedbank’s Youth Summit event, Nivea Skinfluencer Masterclass, Beauty Revolution Festival, Pink Power Women Seminar, Darling x Inecto Summer Launch, Avon x David Tlale Launch and the Root of Fame Conference, a virtual conference that was broadcasted to millions of fans on Youtube where musician Cassper Nyovest launched his Drip Footwear sneaker line collaboration. She is also the go-to MC for fellow influencer owned events, having hosted events for Make-Up entrepreneur Mbali Sebapu, food and fashion enthusiast Nasiphi Ngcwabe and Luyanda Duma.
In September 2021, Mntanga was tapped alongside TV/Radio Presenter Karabo Ntshweng to host a new and exciting TV dating show on DSTV’s channel Honey TV. “I have a TV show on Channel 173, a voice over promo on Channel 161 and an awards show I hosted airing this Saturday. Won’t he do it!”, she recently shared her joy on Twitter. As we anticipate more wins to emerge for this hard worker, it’s clear that she is just getting started and we can definitely bet on more exciting hosting projects and brand partnerships for her in the near future.
