The one thing I regret the most about my quest for career fulfillment and success is the negligence of “self” that comes with the chase. Over the years, my buzzing PR career had always taken precedence over my well being, from late nights that turned into early mornings as a means of remaining at the top. Surviving on little or no sleep was a norm. When I decided to embark on an entrepreneurial journey at the age of 28, I knew stepping up for my dreams and vision would result in even less sleep. Little did I know that the anxiety that comes with being your own boss would cripple my sleeping routine.
Turning 30 represented something deeper than aging for me. It represented stepping up for myself. I realised that while chasing my dreams, I neglected myself and sadly, my skin suffered greatly. In my 30th year, I have taken up the challenge of reclaiming “me” time by making my nights all about pampering myself. 30 is all about owning my night by teaching myself to shut down. I want to make my nights the highlight of any day, whether successful or not.
While pondering over this thought and researching ways to practice self-care, I stumbled upon Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair, which also came highly recommended by close friends. Furthermore, the brand had this to say, “Beauty Sleep is real! Here’s why you need it. A scientific study has proved that staying up all night doesn’t just make you tired. Lack of sleep can visibly age your skin. Fortunately, no matter what keeps you up, Advanced Night Repair helps keep you beautiful. Unleash the power of the night.”
Apparently, between 11pm – 2am, natural skin recovery is at its peak. The Advanced Night Repair is widely hailed for its ability to help skin maximise its nightly recovery for a radiant and rested look.
At the top of my vision board is peace and glowing skin. I am challenging myself to start pampering myself, and most importantly my skin. I’ve also been trying to adopt reading as a hobby, shutting down my Macbook after 7:00pm, cooking healthy meals and staying off social media past 10:00pm. I am also just ready to wake up to beautiful skin everyday!
