This morning I woke up to pictures of a William Nicol billboard, featuring Trevor Stuurman as part of his collaboration with Italian brand, Superga. This forms part of the roll out of the highly anticipated announcement of Trevor’s new role as the brand’s latest seasonal ambassador, following in the ranks of previous international ambassadors, Rita Ora, Alexa Chung and Chu, Euphonik and Poppy Ntshongwana locally.“Working with Superga was an absolute passion project. It was refreshing to work with a brand that allowed me to have creative freedom to create an authentic campaign. I hope to grow and do more with the brand in the future,” said the 23 year-old AFDA Graduate in a press statement.
The young photographer continues to make a serious name for himself as a visual artist, following his big break as the winner of Elle Magazine’s Style Reporter contest in 2012. “The winning qualities that set me apart I believe are being blessed with multiple collaborative skills such as styling, blogging, photography and film making. My academic and practical experience have also stood me in good stead in the industry,” the Global African said in an Afribougee interview.
Just last week, I listed Trevor as one of the Top 5 Bloggers who are leveraging their platforms and creative skill to grow revenue. additionally, this year, Trevor made a return as one of retail giant Woolworths’ #StyleBySA ambassadors. On November 2nd, he was named the Best Male Influencer at the inaugural Youth Influencer Awards, hosted by Student Village. It’s so inspiring to see big brands trusting a young man’s creative talent to lead them to the hearts of young South Africans.
Trevor is unapologetically African, regardless of his current Instagram location. I always say Trevor Stuurman is the epitome of African Art! I love his articulation of Africa and his visual representation of how our beautiful heritage influences his style. “Trevor incorporated a tropical setting underpinning African heritage. This was beautifully paired with Trevor’s iconic, sophisticated and beautifully tailored wardrobe selection,” Superga told Destiny Magazine. In his new role, Trevor has exclusively curated a Summer 16/17 collection which launched at selected Superga Concept Stores this week on November 1st.
