PEARL THUSI x QUANTICO II

PEARL THUSI x QUANTICO II

What a time! Nothing makes me happier than seeing local stars penetrate the global scene in a major way. Leading the pack was our very own Trevor Noah, with his Daily Show deal estimated at $30mil, followed by Terry Pheto’s BET role, as well as Black Coffee and his numerous global accolades. Now Pearl Thusi has been cast as a series regular for Season 2 of the ABC drama series, Quantico.

According to Deadline, Mama Panther will play “Dayana Mampasi, a driven, disciplined, type-A Lawyer”. In her new role, Pearl will join cast members Priyanka Chopra, Blair Underwood, Jake McLaughlin and many others.

A role in a show of this magnitude has the potential to catapult Pearl’s brand to an A-List level. In actual fact, I’ve always felt Pearl has global appeal, kinda like Trevor Noah, and I have no doubt that Americans will fully embrace her. I would also love to see Pearl align herself to a US management team, which will help her navigate her way through Hollywood. Afterall, a role in Quantico is essentially what led to her fellow cast mate Priyanka’s rise to stardom.

Over the years, Pearl has enjoyed a few brand alignments, but has not managed to draw any major endorsement deals.  It will be interesting to see what doors this will open for Pearl globally. This is a really huge deal! However, Pearl and her reps had been rather mum since this news came out, until a day ago (9 days since the story broke).  The PR Manager in me immediately assumed it was probably because she had offered an exclusive to a major publication. I would have loved to see her management team amplify and maximise this as much as possible, to help position her as a global actress, while strengthening the value of her brand. I guess only time will tell…
